Future’s name may imply things to come, but for his new “Buy Love” video he’s looking to the past. In the retro-styled clip, the rapper goes old school for the sound and the visuals.
Directed by Aaron Klisman, the clip opens as if a VCR tape, with its white tracking lines and grainy look, is playing. It even ends with the sound of a video tape being ejected.
In the video, Future is seen counting money, hanging on jets, and rolling through a night cityscape while the Nineties-vibed slow jam with its backbeat and sweet key melodies plays out. The song samples K-Ci & Jojo’s “All My Life.” Money and come-on innuendos are top of mind in the video.
“Sexual chemistry/ We don’t show no sympathy,” Future sings in an auto-tuned, but contemplative tone. “I want you spiritually/ But I need you most mentally.”
Future recently appeared with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin in their video for hit single “X” and teamed with his Summer Sixteen tourmate Drake for the video for new single “Used to This.”
