Who won the Emmy Awards 2017: List of winners and nominees in full plus red carpet glamour

The best in TV over the past year has been honoured at the 69th annual primetime Emmy Awards tonight.

The Handmaid’s Tale, the dystopian series based on the book of the same name by Margaret Atwood, was the big winner on the night.

The Hulu show took home outstanding drama series and also secured a big win for show star Elisabeth Moss, who was crowned outstanding lead actress in a drama series, as well as six other awards.

Political comedy Veep also picked up a number of top prizes, as did Saturday Night Live which was also a big winner on a night dominated by jokes about US President Donald Trump.

Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman’s Big Little Lies won eight Emmy Awards.

Australian actress Nicole took home the award for outstanding supporting actress in a TV movie / limited series for her role in the show, while co-star Alexander Skarsgard won the prize for outstanding supporting actor.

Elsewhere, Charlie Brooker – who was joined by wife Konnie Huq – picked up the Emmy for outstanding writing for a limited Series, movie, or dramatic special, for his episode of Black Mirror, San Junipero.
